The month of May in the Sierra Nevada mountains, in California. It was the first time in my life I had seen so much snow and it was an amazing life affirming moment for me
Taking inspiration from a post I read at the great FoxNomad here is a list of 15 travel related things about me:
1. It was a childhood dream to spend Christmas in New York. This came true in December 2005
2. I took my first steps during my first trip abroad at 15 months old. My parents had taken my 13 year old brother and I to DisneyWorld in Orlando and we were all in the airport waiting to board the plane home. I started walking and heading towards the exit, away from the plane. I think this is when my wanderlust started, I didn’t want to return home!
3. I could have travelled extensively when I was eighteen but I didn’t. I spent many years regretting it but now realise it was the wrong time for me, I wasn’t ready for it. I am enjoying travelling so much more now than I would have done ten years ago.
4. I hate sleeping in airports.
5. I hate arriving in a new country without the first two nights accommodation arranged.
6. I can’t travel without my iPod.
7. I appeared in a television advert for a restaurant in Aleppo that was broadcast on satellite television across the Arabic world and then a few weeks later I was photographed for a high society magazine in Damascus.
8. The best airport I have ever been to was Seoul, South Korea.
9. I never feel clean without showering in hot water. After being without hot water for two weeks I spent 45 minutes standing under the shower of the first place we stayed in with hot water.
10. I always get an attack of anxiety before going to a new country or region. The only time this didn’t happen was when we went to the USA.
11. I get depressed if I am not travelling or have a trip planned.
12. At times I get overwhelmed with a sense of gratefulness for the travelling I have done and sometimes a sense of disbelief, that this is all a wonderful dream and one day I will wake up. I try to make the most of and appreciate every day.
13. I have received a lot of healing from traumatic past experiences through travelling. It has been like my therapy.
14. Travelling, together with my daughter, makes me feel happy to be alive. In fact, they are the only things that make me feel alive.
15. I always leave packing to the last minute and then panic and make a mess of it.

Nice list
I also hate sleeping in airports. You obviously love traveling very much. Keep up the good writing!
I’m glad that you took up this idea, it was a great read. Personally I love sleeping in airports (ok, maybe *love* is too strong of a word.)
I’m also a very last minute person and end up just throwing things in a bag right before I have to leave. Sometimes this works out and other times I’m missing important things like socks
Thanks Mike!
Hi Anil, I saw your list on Foxnomad and thought it was a really good idea so I threw my 15 travel factoids into the pile!
I guess socks are pretty important! I met a guy in the reception of a hostel who was rushing out to buy new underwear a he had left all of his behind in his previous hostel. He only had the underwear he was wearing and he had been travelling in them for three days!
