Learning Spanish – The Online Way

I found a fun new way to learn Spanish the other day. It’s an online website where you can either pay for premium content or just use the basic content for free! Live Mocha offers tutorials for various languages and then feedback from native speakers of your chosen language is given on your submittals. So far it has been great fun, the lessons have been easy to understand and I have even made a friend in Chile!

Katie has started it however she finds it rather repetitive and I am apprehensive about letting her submit spoken samples as you can hear it is obviously a child and as people aren’t vetted, I don’t know who is listening. So that is a bit of a stumbling block as she can’t move on to the next lesson without submitting a spoken exercise. However, I am finding it very useful for myself.

I have offered reviews and suggestions on other people submittals and received friendly and encouraging advice in return.

We haven’t been doing much else in the way of learning Spanish recently as time hasn’t allowed for it, but the lovely lady we are renting a room from in Mexico City has lined up six or seven lessons a week for Katie when we arrive in return for English lessons. We don’t leave till the 8th July so I am planning on cramming a lot of practice in between now and then.

Practising pronunciation is proving to be the hardest area so far because without a Spanish speaker around I have no idea if I am saying things correctly! Maybe now is a good time to get back to Live Mocha!
